I Filed My Claim With The Insurance Company. I Am Okay, Right?
WRONG!! FILING A CLAIM WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY DOES NOT PROTECT YOUR RIGHTS!
Under Maryland Law, you must file your claim with the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission, which is an independent State agency, to protect your rights. Under the laws of the District of Columbia (for private sector employees) you must file your claim with the District of Columbia Office of Workers’ Compensation to protect your rights.
Neither your employer nor the insurance company are required to file your claim for you. By law, you are responsible for filing the claim with the appropriate government agency correctly and timely.
As your attorneys, Meiselman, Salzer, Inman, and Kaminow will see to it that your claim is properly filed and that your rights are protected.
